A relative pronoun is a word used to connect a dependent clause with an independent clause by referring directly to a person or a thing mentioned in the first clause. The word to which the pronoun refers is called the antecedent.
He is the man who called.

In Spanish the most common relative pronoun is que, which may refer to persons or things and may be used as the subject or object of a verb.
